Texas artist Katie MacIan is based in the Texas Hill Country.  A self-taught artist, her style includes use of bold strong colors and brush strokes creating a more modern contemporary approach on oil primed, linen canvas.

MacIan has much respect for nature, and has spent a vast amount of time studying wildlife, animals, as well as landscapes in the wilderness and public lands of the American West.  She also greatly admires the North American Indian Tribes and their legends, colorful stories, and epic historical encounters.   

An avid photographer, Katie often uses photos for studio reference materials.  But occasionally she uses a watercolor study first before starting a final oil painting.
