Congratulations to represented TX artist Calvin Carter, who recently sold a trio of hunting and sporting paintings through the Quail Coalition banquets and auctions.
At the February 2026 Permian Basin event held in Midland Texas, Carter's original 20"x30" South Texas gouache painting titled, "Homestead Memories",  sold at their auction for $25,000.
Recently at the March 2026 Park Cities 20th annual Quail Coalition banquet and auction held in Dallas Texas, two additional Calvin Carter original paintings sold at an impressive $25,000 each.
Highlighting the evening activities in Dallas, the Quail Coalition honored legendary musician Robert Earl Keen by presenting him with their T. Boone Pickens Lifetime Sportsman award.
Included with the prestigious award was a commissioned oil painting by artist Calvin Carter.
Shown here, Calvin is presenting the commissioned painting to Robert Earl Keen which features his beloved dog Roadie.

In addition to the esteemed activities, Calvin Carter's remarkable 24"x36" framed oil painting titled "Fast Break", a South Texas sporting dog and quail scene, was the featured image used in the advertising for the events honoring Robert Earl Keen.
During the auction, "Fast Break's" retail value of $12,000 was shattered by art collector attendees, with the hammer closing at $25,000.

Mr. Carter's second auction item at the Dallas event, is a future 24"x30" commissioned oil painting.  Its subject matter will be the winner's choice of their private hunting or fishing scene.
As part of the creative process, the artist may travel to their hunting ranch or favorite fishing spot to view the landscape in-person.   This first hand experience offers the artist the ability to study the landscapes and subjects, create accurate color studies, and gather his own collection of reference photos.  While completing the final masterpiece later on in the studio, the studies and photos may be used as visual aids.
The entire creation process could take an estimated 24 months for completion, as advertised at the event.
This future commission was listed with a retail value of $12,000, but as the hammer fell, it too closed at a climatic $25,000.
