Western Galleries represented artist, Al Kline, has recently won the "May 2025 Best Plein Air Watercolor" for his coastal scene titled Serinity.
This very competitive, & highly respected, competition was created by PleinAir Magazine, and founder Eric Rhodes. The May 2025 judge was Dave Santillanes, CA.
By winning this award, Rockport Texas artist Al Kline, who is an international destination watercolor instructor, author, is now also a "TOP FINALIST" eligible for advancement in the prestigious competition. Dr Kline will be among only 21 other eligible artists, in the final stage of the 15th annual $50,000 PleirAir Salon Art Competition.
The 21 Finalists will be vying for the $15,000 cash grand prize. Along with the cash, the top prize also includes: awarded presentations during the May 2026 13th annual PleinAir Convention and Expo, and the winning artwork will be published as the featured cover image of PleinAir Magazine.
All of the monthly winners, including Al Kline, will be included in the showcase July/August digital edition of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine, as well as the printed and digital versions August/September issue of PleinAir Magazine, which is America's number one best selling representational national art magazine.
