ABOUT:  WEIGAND FAMILY FARM
   We descend from long-lines of German & Czech bakers.  In 1920, our German great-grandparents turned their successful south Tx saloon into a family restaurant when the new prohibition law started.  Generations have sold their home-made breads and deserts to the communities, including our mom who sold baked goods to shops here in Fredericksburg in the 1970's.
  Our heirloom sourdough starter, aka "Big Mama",  is made using organic all-purpose flour purchased from our local grocery store that is advertised as "non-gmo, unbleached, unenriched, white wheat, all-purpose flour".
   During its peak activity, a portion is carefully dried at room temperature (not heat dried) on our farm that was established in the 1950's near Luckenbach TX.  
 
  Follow the simple steps for activating and maintaining your starter using only water and flour.
  Within just a few days your starter will be bubbling and ready.  
  Bake your own homemade sourdough bread, rolls, pizza crust, pancakes, & more!
