This pottery vase was made by hand using old traditional methods, designs, and style, along with thin pressed clay walls ... all master craftsmanship.
After shaping the wet clay, the artist often uses a corn cob to rough up the seams to seal it, then smooths and finishes the design of the pot, allowing it to dry. It's fired, then traditional pine pitch is applied, which adds a brownware type color, and it also adds an attractive gloss sheen.
Provenance:
New Mexico reputable Native American gallery.
