STORY
Early pioneer trails were marked with buffalo skulls.  Symbols were written (carved) into them or the rocks.  The carvings indicated where to find water, suitable camp sites, or simply mark the trail.  The carved rock on this bronze has an arrow with no fletching indicating water, along with a Spanish gourd, the symbol for spring water.

This original artwork is located at the artist's studio in Midlothian Texas.
