The Story:
We have traveled to the McCullough Peaks Wild Horse Range near Cody Wyoming several times over the years. While searching for the horses in the 110,000 acres of high desert range, we were slowly driving down a rough dirt road scanning distant hills. We went over a small ridge and there, within a short distance, was a burrowing owl just sitting there watching us. Thankfully, my camera was ready as this was the first time we had the opportunity to view a burrowing owl in the wild.
